Class from 9/14: Polishing Heeling/Auto-Sit
A place to learn a new language, the Koehler Method of Dog Training, which is an entire language of communication between owner(s) and their dog. Let their journey begin..
In case anyone wants to hear me (1) bang my head against a metal post and (2) cuss some more...
Jürgen has an XC meet tomorrow so I'm not sure we will have time to work, and then I work Thursday and Friday, so I'm not sure how much we will get done either day. I think Saturday morning I will set up a ring somewhere, probably around 10. If you want to come, just let me know via text and I will get you more solid information. We are going to have it set up for Beginner Novice but I can bring my jumps for those of us in more advanced levels if needed.
Video from until my phone died...
Nice opportunity for an approach in the second video.
I keep thinking it's August. But I'm thanking Heaven for the cooler temperatures.
We also did recall practice and then did a little TS recalls while we walked around the track. No check cord. He did pretty well, and I was proud when Niko did a sit and held it while we worked Koda's recall.
I still haven't finished TS with Niko so hopefully we will both make it through the whole course together this time.
We survived! And it was a good weekend- Mom didn't cry at all this trip (much better than last time)!
We have both developed a cold so we stayed home from church and I tried to decide what kind of motorhome (1) I could afford and (2) would fit a Malamute, Australian Shepherd, Leonberger, Field Golden, and Great Dane. Oh, and still leave room for the seven people. 😂 Planning for the future. (Yes, I AM certifiable.)
Jürgen is still trying to gauge how to move in the ring. Yesterday he finally allowed himself to 'trust the training' and not grab the dog every time he stopped in conformation. Big improvement. We also discussed how unfair it is that all the men in conformation seem to have a harder time. 😆
Still working on transitioning from the KISS mechanic to the auto-sit.
Planning on run-through's every day this week. Travel Thursday, see how things go Friday and Saturday!
Mom has had a hard few days so forgive my snappishness/terseness. Hopefully Jürgen will too.
He really is making some good improvement!
